1. About this Policy
This Policy explains how Veedum Sthalavum collects, uses, stores and shares personal information when you visit our website, sign in, submit advertisements, contact advertisers or send us messages.
It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.
2. Information we collect
Depending on the features you use, we collect:
- Account information: Your name, email address and an account identifier supplied through sign-in. We do not receive your sign-in password.
- Advertisement information: Advertiser name, phone number, property details, price, location, photographs and any map link you provide.
- Saved-property information: Advertisements you like or shortlist.
- Website messages: Messages exchanged through the website’s chat feature, participants’ account identifiers and message timestamps.
- Contact-form information: Your name, phone number, email address and message.
- Visitor information: A browser identifier stored in a cookie, visit dates, page-view counts and approximate country, region or city derived from network information.
- Acceptance records, once enabled: Your account identifier, advertisement reference, acceptance time and the versions of the Terms, Privacy Policy and publication notice you accepted.
Our visitor-counting feature does not request your device’s GPS location or store your IP address in its visitor statistics database. Hosting and service providers may separately process technical information under their own policies.
Please do not submit passwords, OTPs, banking credentials or unnecessary identity documents.
3. Why we use your information
We use information to:
- Operate accounts and identify the advertiser responsible for a listing.
- Review, publish, update and remove advertisements.
- Enable interested visitors to contact advertisers.
- Provide saved-property and messaging features.
- Respond to enquiries, complaints and privacy requests.
- Estimate website traffic and visitor locations.
- Prevent abuse, protect security and investigate reported problems.
- Maintain acceptance records and meet applicable legal obligations.
4. Information displayed publicly
When an advertisement is approved, its advertiser name and phone number are displayed publicly alongside the property details, photographs and any map link supplied.
Visitors may call the number or use the WhatsApp button to open a conversation. These details can be viewed by people who are not logged in.
Do not submit another person’s personal information without appropriate authority or permission.
Public information may be copied, shared or indexed by third parties. Removing an advertisement from our website does not automatically remove copies held elsewhere.
Your account email is not included in the public advertisement merely because you signed in.
5. Messages and contact enquiries
Website chat messages are made available to the participants in that conversation. They are stored to provide message history and unread-message functionality.
Contact-form submissions are made available to the website administrator for handling enquiries and complaints. They are not published as advertisements.
These features should not be treated as a secure channel for highly sensitive documents or information.
6. Cookies and visitor statistics
We use browser storage and cookies for features such as sign-in, visitor counting and limiting repeated contact-form submissions.
The visitor-counting cookie identifies a browser rather than confirming the identity of a person. Different browsers, cleared cookies and shared devices can affect the counts.
Visitor location is approximate. VPNs and mobile networks may make it inaccurate.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect website functionality. Any consent required for non-essential cookies will be requested separately.
7. Who receives information
Information may be disclosed to:
- Website visitors, for the public advertisement information described above.
- Conversation participants, for messages exchanged with them.
- Authorised administrators, for moderation, enquiries and website management.
- Hosting, authentication, storage and other service providers where necessary to operate the website.
- Competent authorities or professional advisers where legally required or reasonably necessary to address legal claims, fraud or security incidents.
The website currently uses ChatGPT sign-in and Sites hosting, with database and image-storage infrastructure supporting its features.
We do not sell your personal information.
8. External services
WhatsApp, Google Maps, ChatGPT sign-in and other external services have their own privacy policies.
Clicking an external link may transfer you to that service and cause information to be processed by it. A WhatsApp conversation takes place on WhatsApp, rather than in the website’s chat system.
9. Storage and international processing
Information may be processed in countries where our operator or service providers are located. We do not guarantee that all website information is stored exclusively in India.
We will follow applicable requirements for international processing and transfers.
10. Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including operating the service, handling complaints, preventing fraud and meeting legal obligations.
You can delete your advertisements using the available controls. Removing an advertisement does not necessarily delete related messages, acceptance records, provider logs or legally required records.
We will assess requests to delete other personal information and explain any information that must be retained. Backups and third-party copies may not be removed immediately.
We do not retain information indefinitely merely because it was collected.
11. Your choices and requests
You may contact us to request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, or to withdraw permission for processing based on consent, subject to applicable law.
You can edit or delete your advertisements through your account. To request removal of publicly displayed contact information without deleting the advertisement yourself, contact us with its reference number.
Withdrawal may prevent us from continuing the related service. For example, withdrawing permission to publish your advertiser contact details may require removal of the advertisement.
We may ask for proportionate verification before acting on a request. Withdrawal does not invalidate processing lawfully carried out beforehand.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including account-based access controls.
No website or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. If a personal-data breach occurs, we will take appropriate action and provide notifications where required by applicable law.
13. Children
Account creation and advertisement submission are intended for people aged 18 or above.
Do not submit children’s personal information or photographs unless necessary, lawful and appropriately authorised. Contact us if you believe a child’s information has been submitted improperly.
14. Policy changes
We may update this Policy and display its revised version and effective date.
We will communicate material changes appropriately and obtain fresh consent where required. We will not treat earlier consent as permission for an unrelated new purpose.
15. Contact and complaints
For privacy requests or complaints, please use the Contact Us button in the home page.
Please include the advertisement reference or relevant account details and a description of your request. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive documents.
We will handle requests within applicable statutory time limits. This Policy does not restrict your right to approach competent authorities or seek remedies available under law.
